What does peer education means to me? Jiana:
Who am I? I am a Peer Educator who loves what I do because I help other
teens find out more about themselves and about sex, life and sexually
transmitted infections. Roya: I think this is a great program. I think there should be more programs throughout the communities in the New York area. I say this because bad things tend to happen in areas that don't have programs that can keep youth off the street. Marcos: I think that there should be a program like this in every borough, so that way we could all be educated and try to educate those who are in gangs or using drugs. David: I like Peer Ed, Peer Ed keeps me off the streets and it keeps me educated. So I am not doing anything that I shouldn't be doing. Nixon: I think being a Peer Educator is a good thing, because when I tell people what I do I always get replies like "Can I get some condoms." That makes me know that I am saving lives. Michael: I am a person that was very fortunate to get hooked up with Grand Street Settlement. I am a good person and a great friend. I feel very comfortable with Peer Education. In school they just talk about the basics. But in Peer Ed, it gives you the extra "umph" of what they are trying to teach us. Luis: All I have to say is positive. You can learn a lot from this program if you want to. I think there should be programs like this everywhere. Joey:
I am a person who is trying to save and help educate youngsters
who get the wrong info on the streets. I am using the knowledge that Grand
Street Settlement gave me and giving it back to the community.
