Who Should Consider AmeriCorps?

The model AmeriCorps member is a person who is interested in leadership roles, community service, and working with youth, families and senior citizens. Enthusiasm, willingness to learn, initiative and dependability are key characteristics for anyone seeking a position in the AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to make an impact on the Lower East Side community, gain valuable work experience, and develop his or her personal and career skills.

Upon receipt and review of your application, you will be contacted for an interview.

Application Requirements

Citizenship Status


  • United States citizen or legal permanent resident
Age


  • 17 years or older
Education

  • College graduate; or
  • Attending college; or
  • High school diploma or GED; or
  • Currently in high school with intention to graduate; or
  • Currently enrolled in a GED program
Required forms
  • Application
  • Personal Statement
  • Copy of high school diploma or GED certificate (if applicable)
  • School schedule/program (if applicable)
  • Resume (optional)
  • Two letters of recommendation
