TITLE:                          AmeriCorps Training & Program Assistant

DEPARTMENT:             Youth Services

REPORTS TO:              AmeriCorps Program Director

SALARY RANGE:          33K annually (FT position with full health benefits, 401K)

DATE:                          Paid mandatory job training Part- Time (10-12 per week) Mid June – July 30th

Full –time position begins August 3, 2009- Position renewed annually based on

Performance & funding-based position

 

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting the functioning of the Americorps Program. Provide day to day support of developmental/ social services needs for Americorps members.  Develop, coordinate and provide training to members and recruited volunteers. Recruit & coordinate volunteer projects that address the specific needs of the program and community.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

·         Bachelors degree required

·         Must have strong curriculum design, training and facilitation skills a must

·         Strong supervisory skills required

·         Experience working with youth based and adult volunteer programs

·         Ability to provide leadership and coordinate the work of a team of Americorps Members

·         Ability to create an atmosphere of teamwork and commitment among Americorps Members, sites and community partners

·         Demonstrate the ability and experience in areas such as, training, team building, program development/ management, problem solving, and community building

·         Good interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively balance and integrate task-oriented and process-oriented responsibilities

·         Outreach experience a plus

·         Excellent written & verbal communication

·         Bilingual English/ Spanish a plus

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Assist with Recruiting, on an annual basis, a team of 40 individuals to serve as Americorps members

·         Assist with supervising of members; Conduct site visits

·         Develop and coordinate an annual pre service training curriculum for Americorps site supervisors and for members

·         Facilitate workshops and reflection meetings with members

·         Support the professional and personal growth of the Americorps Members

·         Provide direct personal development/ social casework services to all members

·         Coordinate special events and community service projects

·         Conduct outreach to local high schools, universities, and community members to recruit prospective to commit to one-day, short-term, and long-term volunteer projects.

·         Act as a liaison for Leadership Council

·         Responsible for all administrative duties, including data entry

·         Attend required training & conferences (Out of town traveling involved)

·         Provide support with all Youth Services program

·         Special assignments as needed
