JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Development Director, the Grant Writer is
responsible for the research, development and follow up on foundation proposals
and other funding sources.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
·
BA in journalism, English, creative writing,
sociology, or related field; MA preferred.
·
Two-four (2-4) years experience and excellent
writing skills as a grant writer
·
Experience writing successful proposals for social
service organization(s).
·
Strong team player with excellent follow-through and
time management aptitude
·
Strong research skills and fundraising database
experience a plus
·
Record of successful fund-raising through proposal
writing
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·
In conjunction with Director of Development and
program managers generates proposals and supporting documents in response to
foundations request and/or new funding request.
·
Researches and identifies new private funding
prospects.
·
Supervises consultants hired by GSS for specific
writing projects.
·
Maintains and implements funding calendar
activities, including cultivation activities.
·
Writes reports to foundations and other funders.
·
Writes grant proposals, or supervises the process.
·
Assists with coordination of special events.
·
Acts as liaison with program staff.
·
Generates revenues for agency programs and services through
timely submission of well-researched, well-written and well-documented
fund-raising proposals.
·
Special projects as needed.
